DJ Democracy is a unique team-building experience that results in your people providing the party atmosphere at the end of the day. Fun, inclusive and highly-interactive, participants develop a ‘party manifesto’ that supports your company’s vision and values, choose their favourite tracks, take over the turntables, and compete to create the best party atmosphere. No experience is necessary – with DJ Democracy anyone can create a powerful clubbing experience and get their 15 minutes of fame.

Created by Stick It On and Catalyst Events, DJ Democracy is a refreshing new approach to corporate entertainment that encourages democratic leadership, negotiation and conflict management skills, creative thinking, collaboration and task assignment. As well as playing tracks that best fit your company culture, each team will present a 60-Second Manifesto as part of their set. And, as with democracy in the real world, the crowd gets to vote for the most popular act with the best messages.

The process starts with an e-mail invitation to DJ Democracy that asks each participant to bring along their favourite track that best encapsulates their company or team culture or values. At the event and following a briefing by our facilitator teams are formed to develop their manifesto, choose their tracks and set out to create winning act. They also have to think of a name for themselves that will be displayed and animated on screen during their set. Roles will also have to be allocated and specific responsibilities will have to be given to the core team on the night (MC, two DJs, a lighting operator and video effects operator).

No experience is necessary as the teams are guided all the way by the Stick It On DJs and technicians. Choosing the tracks from all those brought by the members of the team will be a challenging task that the teams will have to develop the best ways of overcoming. Listening posts will be provided. Part of the act will be the all-important party political broadcast which must be delivered in just 60 seconds – a motivational manifesto presented to the rest of the company that conveys themes from the conference and brings shared values alive. The teams also are encouraged to think of ways of promoting their team and manifesto.

Materials will be provided to create flyers and each team will be allocated 30 Credits to spend in the DJ Store and trade with. At the DJ Store they will be able to purchase props (such as mirror balls), costumes, wigs and give-aways (sweets, prizes, etc) to add fun, character and bribery to their campaign.
